Real MaeMe Bride Jenna + Baylen’s Destination Wedding
Bride + Groom
MaeMe bride, Jenna and Baylen’s beachfront wedding took place at Azul Beach Resort in Cancun, Mexico on February 27. The couple hosted an intimate and laid back ceremony next to the ocean with the reception following immediately afterwards. While planning their wedding, Jenna and Baylen were inspired by Cancun’s breathtaking beachfront location and Mexican flare. It’s no surprise that the reception included authentic Mexican cuisine for guests, like grilled flank steak with lobster enchiladas and fried plantains, as well as fresh mango mojitos and margaritas that were served in celebration. Bridesmaids wore vivid red gowns by Australian designer Shona Joy, while the groom and groomsmen dressed in seeksucker suits from Jos A. Bank and Brooks Brothers. Jenna wore a one-of-a-kind Martina Liana gown that she customized herself.
When Jenna first met Baylen at Southeastern Louisiana University, Jenna knew immediately he was the man she would marry. The bride recalls telling her mom that weekend that she had found “the one”. Surprisingly enough in the small college town, the two shared mutual friends but had never met before! After dating for a few years, Baylen planned a magical proposal at Walt Disney World including roses, champagne and chocolates. The couple later celebrated their honeymoon at Disney World in nod to their engagement.
Wedding Day Ensemble
After searching tirelessly for her perfect beach wedding dress, Jenna finally found the unique style that she wanted from the separates collection by Martina Liana. Jenna mentioned, “I felt like MaeMe really focused on making sure I was enjoying myself and having fun.” The bride expressed, “I actually loved being able to select the individual pieces of the gown.” The bride’s top featured detailed illusion lace over a tulle bodysuit with a romantic sweetheart neckline. Flowing into the sand was the effortless Sanja skirt. The chic crepe skirt with its gorgeous train was the perfect pairing that Jenna envisioned. The bride said that the gown perfectly reflected the laid back atmosphere that she and her groom hoped for. Jenna gushed, “I highly recommend getting married in a bodysuit-literally the most comfortable thing ever!” The bride added an extra special customization to her gown with a monogram pendant sewn into her bodysuit. The pendant was given to her by her late father when he asked her permission to adopt her. She paired the separates with a cathedral raw edge veil and recently, her sister wore it to her own wedding as her “something borrowed.”
Jenna fondly reminisces on dancing the night away with all of her friends and family, while the bartender brought out tequila shots. The highlight of the reception for the bride, was when the DJ played throwback songs from the Backstreet Boys. We are truly honored to be included in Jenna and Baylen’s happily ever after. And… we love The Backstreet boys, too!
