Frequently asked questions is the perfect section to check out to get answers to common questions.  Because many brides have the same questions, this is a great opportunity to read information to help answer those questions.  

What is a Private VIB appointment?

MaeMe offers private bridal appointments for brides that are looking for a truly unique and  memorable shopping experience. Our boutique is opened up privately for you and up to 12 of your closest family and friends for an intimate 2 hour appointment. During your appointment, you and your guests will enjoy hors d’oeurvres and bubbly, and a special bridal gift is the finishing touch to a perfect celebration! To reserve a private VIB appointment, fill out an appointment request online call the boutique at 504.266.2771 to check availability. These appointments are highly coveted and are limited. A reservation deposit is required to reserve your appointment, with a portion of the fee going toward the purchase of your dream dress!  

How long will it take for my dress to arrive?

After a wedding dress order has been placed, it takes approximately four to six months to arrive, so please take that into consideration! Once your wedding dress arrives, you will want to allow three months for alterations, and be sure to include enough time for bridal portraits if you are planning on taking portraits prior to the wedding day. We recommend purchasing your wedding dress nine months to one year prior to your wedding day to avoid rush fees and enjoy the experience to the fullest. If your wedding is less than 6-9 months away, we invite you to give us a call so we can talk through various shipping options. In addition, we have a selection of in stock gowns that are available to purchase same day!

What size wedding dresses do you have in store?

We have dresses in a variety of sizes ranging from 6 – 32 in boutique, with more than 100 dresses sizes 16 – 32! Keep in mind: bridal sizes run slightly smaller than regular clothing, so if you are usually a size 10 in casual wear, you would probably wear a size 12-14 in bridal dresses.

How do I know what size wedding dress to order?

The manufacturer suggests ordering based on the bride’s fullest measurement and based on the designer’s specific size chart. Your MaeMe stylist will measure you and recommend the most appropriate size based on your measurements; however, size choice is ultimately your decision. It is important to remember that wedding dresses do not fit like regular clothing and generally require alterations to achieve the desired fit. 

Are bridal dress alterations included when I purchase my dress?

MaeMe is proud to own and operate The Alteration Shoppe located across Severn Avenue from MaeMe. We have 6 full-time seamstresses who specialize in bridal alterations with expert skill and experience! Nearly all wedding dresses require a hem, a bustle, and additional tailoring through the bodice, as many women are combination sizing. In addition, our staff can customize sleeves, straps, necklines and other details. The cost of alterations is dependent upon the work requested and the fabric and style of the wedding dress. Upon your first appointment, you will experience an individualized consultation and an estimation of the cost of the work requested. All fittings will be scheduled directly through The Alteration Shoppe by calling 504.218.5994.

How do I pay for my dress?

All special order merchandise is to be paid in full or requires a 60% deposit along with a financing fee. We accept all credit cards, debit cards, and cash. All balances are due within 14 days of the merchandise arriving to the boutique.

Can I buy my dress off the rack and take it home today?

In most cases, sure! You are welcome to purchase our in-stock gowns! For quick weddings or if you are looking for a great deal, gowns may be purchased and taken home same day. Just remember, the gown will be sold in an “as is” condition, and any cleaning or repairs will be at the buyer’s expense. All in stock merchandise will need to be paid in full.

What should I bring with me to my wedding dress shopping appointment?

We know that shopping for your wedding gown is a once in a lifetime experience shared with your closest family and friends. Most of our MaeMe brides have success bringing one to four guests with them to find THE ONE! Ultimately, we want you to feel confident and gorgeous when you stand in front of the mirror because we believe every bride should experience pure joy with the people she loves most by her side! In addition to your entourage, we recommend wearing flesh colored undergarments to try on dresses. We supply robes in each fitting room, so you can feel comfortable in between each bridal gown you would like to try on during your appointment.

What is the price range of the gowns in your store?

It has always been our mission to provide a variety of bridal gown options at affordable prices. Our wedding dresses range from just under $1000 to $4500. Your stylist will work with you closely to ensure you are comfortable with the style and price range of gowns selected.

How long will my appointment last?

Each bridal appointment is 90 minutes long. This allows enough time for your stylist to get to know you and understand your vision for your wedding, try on four to ten gowns, narrow down your selection and make an informed decision on which dress is THE ONE! Surprisingly, many of our brides say YES to one of their first 3 dresses, so an hour and a half is plenty of time!

What happens when my wedding dress arrives?

Well, another magical day, of course! You will receive a phone call from one of our MaeMe stylists to schedule a pick up and try on appointment once your dress and accessories have arrived to the boutique. If you have not yet selected accessories, this is a great time to shop our accessories selection! You will take your beauty home with you, unless you would like to store your gown at MaeMe for $25/month. All balances must be paid at this appointment and prior to setting up a storage agreement.
