Iconic On-Screen Wedding Gown Inspiration

Iconic Wedding Gown Inspiration From Our Favorite On-screen Weddings

Long before Pinterest came along, wedding gown inspiration came from wherever we could get it. With all of the recent downtime, we have had some time to reflect back on some of our favorite fictional weddings. These pop culture icons’ style have been so iconic that designers are still including design elements in their present day designs. We hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane as much as we have! Here are some of our favorite fictional brides paired with new styles that remind us of them! Which inspiration dress is your favorite?

Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City wearing Vivienne Westwood

The shape of this gown is what really stands out. Each cup has a slight point to the edge of it, really giving extra coverage and support on the gown. Emily by Essense of Australia has the same bust as well as beautiful pleating that wraps around the bodice for a flattering silhouette.

Tiffani Thiessan as Kelly Kapowski in Saved by the Bell

This beaded sleeve is what really makes Kelly’s gown unique. Which is why we love Juliette by Justin Alexander Signature for her heavily beaded sleeves and relaxed skirt.

Jenna Fischer as Pam Beesly in The Office (U.S.)

Pam walked down the aisle in an empire waist gown. Her gown was simple and beautiful, just like her character’s personality.  Our inspiration from Jim and Pam’s wedding is Demi by Casablanca. The top layer of tulle is finely beaded, adding the perfect amount of sparkle!

Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl wearing Elie Saab

This cutting edge wedding gown has inspired so many design elements! We love the full beading, long sleeve and floral detail. Jagger by Justin Alexander Signature has just as much drama. It has outrageous beading throughout the gown, with illusion long sleeves and a deep plunge in the bust.

Courtney Cox as Monica Geller in Friends

This classic silhouette and fabric makes Monica’s dress a timeless gown.  Serena by Stella York is an updated version of Monica’s gown. Serena features a trumpet styled skirt with a v-neck in the front and back of the gown.

Danielle Fishel as Topanga Lawerence in Boy Meets World

The sleeves on Topanga’s wedding gown are so dreamy! We love the off the shoulder look with floral lace, it’s a botanical garden on your arm. Sinatra by Stella York has a similar neckline, with long sleeves featuring lace appliques floating down the arm.

Anne Hathaway in Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

Our favorite fictional Princess wore a gorgeous lace long sleeved ball gown for her wedding. We love the similarities in the neckline between Princess Mia’s gown and Jessica by Justin Alexander. The inspiration dress and Justin’s dress are quite canny!

Kristen Stewart in Bella Swan in Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part I wearing Carolina Herrera

Bella’s simplistic gown surprised us all when we saw it from the back. Featuring intricate lace and beading around the back of the gown. Similarly, Julianna by Justin Alexander reminds us that the front of the gown is not the most important aspect. Julianna has a similar illusion back with tons of gorgeous beading and buttons flowing down to the train.

Julia Roberts as Maggie Carpenter in Runaway Bride

I wouldn’t recommend pairing any gown with tennis shoes, but Julia Roberts made a good choice to wear an a-line gown to runaway in. (Try doing that in a mermaid style gown!) Her off the shoulder gown inspired tons of design elements on Eldora by Essence of Australia. From the off the shoulder straps, to the fitted bodice, this gown has delicate lace that organically flows down the skirt of the gown.

Princess Fiona (Voiced by Cameron Diaz) in Shrek

Other than learning that Shrek did in fact have a heart, Princess Fiona’s square neck wedding gown inspired us to think outside of the box. Luckily, Maddie by Martina Liana gives us the same neckline, but with a slimmer fitted silhouette.

Claire Danes as Juliet in Romeo + Juliet

In Romeo + Juliet, Claire Danes wore a racer back wedding gown with buttons up the bust. This gown reminded us of Rene by Sincerity by Justin Alexander. Rene is a halter-top gown with a notch neckline. Her simplicity is show stopping.

Disney’s Cinderella

After meeting your prince charming at a ball, your wedding dress has to be extra spectacular. Cinderella went for a pure class white gown with fitted long sleeves and a ball gown skirt. Inspired by the Disney character, we choose Marnie by Martina Liana to match Cinderella’s wedding gown. A crepe top is paired with a satin circle skirt to make you feel like the princess that you are!

We are so excited to be back in bridal world after months of being out of the boutique due to Covid, and these wedding gowns are giving us all the energy to get back to appointments!
